Thomas Fay Dean, the pilot in today's horrific small plane crash at Long Beach Airport was a well known owner of a large portion of the Los Cerritos Wetlands, and was also involved in a high profile "domestic violence" arrest last April.

Dean was the pilot of the twin engine plane today that crashed and claimed the lives of at least  three others.

Dean was arrested last year on domestic violence charges but was never prosecuted due to a "lack of evidence."  Dean was taken into custody and had to post bail  after he was arrested on Monday, April 26, 2010. Deputies responded to a call at his Sea Isle Drive home at around 9:15pm that evening on a case of "possible domestic violence."  The Los Angeles County District Attorney's office never filed charges in that case.

The NTSB is now investigating today's deadly crash.
