Image via WikipediaLOS ANGELES – An ex-felon who allegedly grabbed a young woman at a Metro station last week in southeast Los Angeles was charged today with
kidnapping and other crimes, the District Attorney’s office announced. James Alfred Burnett, 46 (dob 1-5-65), was charged in case No. TA117250 with one
felony count each of making criminal threats, kidnapping and
false imprisonment with the special
allegation he’s a “Third Striker.” The case was assigned
Deputy District Attorney Mia Wood to prosecute. Burnett allegedly grabbed the 25-year-old woman about 2 p.m. Thursday at the
Avalon Green Line station. As the woman struggled and screamed for help, Burnett allegedly threatened to kill the victim as a train approached. Several bystanders came to her aid, and she was able to get away. Witnesses followed Burnett onto the train and alerted security at the next stop, authorities said. He is scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon at Compton
Superior Court, Department 12. He is being held on $1.2 million bail. If convicted, he faces 25 years to life in state prison.
