BEVERLY HILLS

Ryan Bowman, the 34-year-old Australian businessman who runs the "Girls Gone Wild" series in Australia, has pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of a collision that killed 21-year-old Lauren Ann Freeman last November.

The accident sparked world wide media attention.

The hit and run incident took place on the famed Sunset Strip has been sentenced today in the Los Angeles court room.

I was one of the first journalists to break this story back in November, and today I wanted to follow up on the sentencing.

I just got off the phone with the Media Division at the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office, and they told me that Bowman was sentenced to 364 days of jail time, nine months of alcohol and drug treatment, the installation of the alcohol detection device in his future automobiles, four years probation and restitution to the Freeman family that still needs to be determined.

Bowman will serve his "hard time" in the tony Seal Beach city jail.  Surf's up, dude?  Give me a break.

Bowman pleaded guilty on March 2 before Beverly Hills Superior Court Judge Elden Fox.

Prosecutors said Bowman admitted being the driver of a Bentley that struck and killed the beautiful blond aspiring Lauren Ann Freeman as she was crossing Sunset Boulevard at Hammond Street in West Hollywood.

The accident occurred about 11:50 p.m. on Nov. 10, 2010.  Sheriff's investigators said the driver fled in the car.  I covered this case extensively on my blog.

So, is this JUSTICE?  Did Bowman get off easy?  Is Seal Beach Police Jail "ratty" enough for him to serve his time?  Sound off.  Hit my comment section below!
