This Saturday at noon I entered the Tandy Hills from View Street for the first time since the Prairie Fest, two weeks ago.
All that remains from the Prairie Fest is some orange markings on the grass and the art installation you see in the picture.
I know, post Prairie Fest that I read what this art installation was called or was supposed to signify.
But, my pathetically bad memory, combined with my pathetic case of AADD, has rendered that memory missing.
I think the forest of stick phalli, arranged in a circle, was signifying the fertility of spring. Maybe. Was it called "The Fertile Spring?" I wonder how many years this art installation will remain standing?
I saw today that the Tandy Hills Bamboo Teepee art installation is down to only 3 poles. If it loses one more pole that teepee is coming down.
I had an encounter with a coyote today. I was coming down a hill, it was heading up. It saw me and quickly turned around and ran off. I had no chance to take a picture. I have now encountered both a coyote and a roadrunner on the Tandy Hills.
After hiking like a maniac on the HOT Tandy Hills I took my HOT self to Town Talk, just like I do every Saturday.
Today I saw something at Town Talk that there was no way I was not buying. "Estilo Puget Sound Sopa de Almeja Con Tocino Receta del Restaurante Ivar's," it says on the package. Along with "Ivar's Since 1938." And "Acres of Clams."
Ivar's is a Seattle institution. Ivar was a restaurateur who had a famous Seattle waterfront restaurant, which in his later years, he greatly expanded, opening Ivar's in many locations. Wikipedia has an article about Ivar Haglund.
Why Ivar's is selling clam chowder in packaging in Spanish and where it is being sold is a mystery to me. Well, I know it is being sold today at Town Talk, but where did Town Talk get it? When Town Talk gets a new thing, like this, at checkout they give you a piece of paper with the directions on how to cook it.
The title at the top of the instructions says, "INSTRUCTIONS FOR IVAR'S PUGET SOUND STYLE CLAM CHOWDER."
You reading this in the Puget Sound zone, did you know there was a Puget Sound style clam chowder? I sure didn't.

The Dark 3rd Sunday Of March Morning In Texas With No Super Moon In Sight
Looking at the sky through the bars of my patio prison cell I can see no super moon. I do see clouds.
It is already the 3rd Sunday of March. Time flies way too fast.
My Fire Ant injury seems to be a bit better this morning.
Yesterday, at Town Talk, the Town Talk ladies were all concerned about my diseased looking arms. One Latina lady told me I needed to rub a salt solution on the bites.
I didn't follow the salt solution advice, but I did put aloe vera and an anti-biotoc ointment on the pustules.
I am a little nervous over this whole bombing Libya deal. Muammar Gaddafi may be a crazy man. When you box a crazy man into a corner there's no telling what he might do.
The sun has now arrived. Which means it is time to go swimming. Talk to you later.

The Shadow Of The Tandy Thin Man Was Late To The Fort Worth Hills Today
As you can clearly see, by the long shadow, I am walking fast and carrying a big stick and wearing a shirt today for a windy short hike on the Tandy Hills.
I do not think I will be going swimming in the morning. It only got in the low 60s today. By morning the water in the pool will have likely cooled to a temperature that may be sufficiently low to induce an unwanted excessive shivering reaction.
I went to Town Talk after I was done Tandying. I have only one thing to say about Town Talk today. I wish people with hacking coughs would not go out in public. God knows what I was exposed to today in Town Talk.
I believe Gail Galtex and her husband are heading to Seattle today for the first time. Transplants to Fort Worth from Austin, the Galtex's are looking for a more cosmopolitan place to live. And are hoping Seattle may be the place.
I just checked the Seattle weather. Rain and temperatures in the 50s. I was afraid this would happen. March is not a good time to go to Seattle and hope the weather gods decide to remove the clouds and reveal the mountains.
Last week Western Washington had a clear day or two that the locals told me were gorgeous. I'm hoping the clouds part for the Galtex's and they get to see what Seattle and environs look like after a fresh scrubbing by Mother Nature, with the air sparkling clean and smelling of evergreens, with mountains and water in all directions. And, unlike here, in Texas, very little litter.
The Galtex's should find taking the light rail from Sea-Tac International to the downtown Seattle transit tunnel, to their hotel, to be a bit more convenient than the convoluted mass transit they had to use to lug their luggage from their downtown Fort Worth abode to the Fort Worth transit center to make their way to D/FW International..
At 63, currently, it is 10 degrees warmer than Seattle is right now. I have now shut my windows. I am not a big fan of getting chilly.

Calling Honey Lulu While Walking With Cbonesmom In Veterans Park & Hearing Lame Excuses From Elsie Hotpepper
Today I wanted to go to ALDI in Pantego. Veterans Park in Arlington is in the neighborhood, so I went there for a virtual walk with my sister, Cbonesmom, in Arizona.
By virtual walk, I mean I called and we talked while I walked.
I had a few questions to ask regarding my plans to go to Phoenix in April.
Cbonesmom is going to Tacoma for a few weeks in April to see my new nephews and niece, David Jay, Theodore Ryan and Ruby Jean. She said she can change her flight north so she can be in Arizona when I'm there. I'll just push off going to AZ so my sister doesn't have to change her plans.
Cbonesmom is my sister's email nickname. She is CJ and JR's mom. I've no idea what Cbones means. I don't think I've ever asked.
Before calling Cbonesmom I called Honey Lulu. Honey Lulu called me at midnight last night. I did not know this until I flipped my phone open this morning. I called Honey Lulu 12 hours after she called me. I got voice mail. Until a few months ago Honey Lulu lived on Oahu, where she regularly appeared on a TV show called LOST. Honey Lulu is now back on the mainland, having trouble adjusting to the cold Washington winter weather.
This morning Elsie Hotpepper called. Her excuse for not showing up at last night's TRIP event was that she forgot. And her phone was supposedly dead, which is why she was not reachable by phone. Elsie Hotpepper is so unimaginative with her excuses.
I need to call Elsie Hotpepper to tell her we are going to Finn MacCools next weekend to meet some Special Powers. Finn MacCools is a pub. I think they may serve alcoholic beverages there.
Driving around today it sure does not appear that people are cutting back on their driving due to the big jump in the price of gas. There were a lot of people having fun at Veterans Park. ALDI was real busy. Yesterday Town Talk was the busiest I've ever seen it. For the first time ever I had trouble finding a parking space.
I rarely get headaches. I have a slight one right now. I think it may be from spending too much time on the phone today. I don't like spending too much time on the phone.
I forgot to mention, though earlier today I said I would not be going swimming due to the temperature being below freezing, I later re-thought that and realized the water would be significantly warmer than the air. So, I managed about 15 minutes of swimming in water noticeably colder than it was yesterday.
And then I got in the hot tub.

Hiking The Tandy Hills Today Wondering If Global Warming Is About To Warm Us In North Texas to Zero While Enjoying Avgolemono Soup
I decided to see if the Tandy Hills had been de-muddied by today, after staying away after last Friday's muddy stickiness.
Today, I was pleased to find nothing sticking to my hiking boots.
It is good the hills have decided to dry up.
Because they are scheduled to be trampled on this coming Saturday during the second annual Manly Men/Wild Women Hike.
I do not know if I will be able to be a Manly Man this year due to the news of this year's Manly Men/Wild Women Exhibition coming after I'd already made other plans for this coming Saturday.
However, plans can always change.
It is good the Manly Men/Wild Women Hike is this Saturday and not the Saturday following this Saturday, because, according to Fort Worth Weather Prognosticator, Bud Kennedy, reporting in his Facebook weather report, next week we are scheduled to get cold.
Real cold.
And the week following next week the projections are currently projecting the possibility that we could get down near zero here in North Texas.
I think I need to check the anti-freeze in my vehicle.
Let us change the subject from freezing to food.
I must say the Avgolemono Soup I made for lunch turned out way better than I thought it would. Lemon soup? How could that be good I thought? My mom and dad shipped me an awful lot of lemons. I needed to come up with some good way to use some of them. A classic Greek soup was a classic good solution.
I got some good stuff at Town Talk today. A lot of Roma Tomatoes. And a humongous container of Gorgonzola. Anyone need some Gorgonzola?
At times I wonder if former Fort Wortherite, current Tacoman, MLK, is right when she opines that Town Talk has made me fat. However, today I did buy 2 bags of Guiltless Gourmet Blue Corn Chips, in addition to all that cheese. Then again, those Guiltless chips will likely end up having an awful lot of cheese melted on them.
It is truly a wonder I am not fatter.

The New Year's Eve Shadow Of The Tandy Hills Thin Man
You are looking at the long skinny shadow of the ever more skinny shadow of the Tandy Hills Thin Man, today around noon.
I thought we were scheduled for clouds and rain today. Apparently I thought wrong.
The Tandy Hills were still being a bit tacky, mud-wise, so I cut the hiking a little short. I was not liking mud sticking to my shoes. That and my right foot pain was paining me. It is getting better though.
Earlier today I blogged about the BIG Box I got from my mom and dad this morning. It was full of oranges.
That blogging rose Nick Beef from the dead to make a comment.
Nick Beef is the headstone next to Lee Harvey Oswald in Rose Hill Memorial Burial Park in my neighborhood of east Fort Worth.
I do not believe Nick Beef is actually buried next to Lee Harvey. I believe Nick Beef bought the plot as some sort of publicity stunt.
And now, on the day before 2011, Nick Beef is still doing the publicity stunt thing, commenting on my blog. I'm sure this will get Nick unprecedented publicity.
After I was done getting stuck in the Tandy Hills mud I headed to Town Talk. Not knowing if it was open. It was.
Even though I'd just gotten a shipment of citrus from Arizona, from my mom and dad, I got myself a big bag of Cuties for only a buck. Among other things.
I think MLK or MBK or both, may be right. My unfortunate weight gain might be traceable to Town Talk. I know having Town Talk in my life has amped up my access to a lot of different cheeses. And chips. Something I don't usually buy.
But.
For example, today, for 50 cents, Town Talk had All Natural Cheddar Tortilla Chips made with Cheddar Cheese, Quinoa, Soy, Flax, Sunflower, Sesame Seeds, Oat Fiber and Brown Rice. Made by some chip maker called Food Should Taste Good.
And I am sure it will. And be good for me. And not make me fat.
I will likely take a bag or two to my New Year's Eve Party. Due to start soon. See you there.

The Return Of The Shadow Of The Tandy Hills Thin Man
Yesterday I needed two layers, a windbreaker and a wool hat to survive the icy Tandy Hills. Today the sun was back, I only needed one layer, no windbreaker, due to there being no wind, and I probably should have not had the hat on.
As you can see, due to my weakened condition I am now using a walking stick. Also known as a cane.
A couple days ago Alma, the Songbird of the Texas Gulf Coast, announced the shocking news that she'd been advised that maybe it was time for her to start using a cane. Alma and I then commiserated about our co-misery.
I heard the phone ring and go to voice mail whilst I was eating lunch and watching John Wayne and a Stagecoach get chased by Indians in Monument Valley.
It seems like I was just in Monument Valley. But it was at least 13 years ago. This is very disturbing for me to realize. That means it is at least 13 years since I've driven down the Moki Dugway and stayed in Mexican Hat at the San Juan Inn.
Enough of thinking about the depressing fact that time flies by.
After I was done getting aerobicized on the Tandy Hills I went to Town Talk. Busiest I have ever seen it. Which is the same thing I said last Saturday. This must have to do with Christmas. But I don't remember this phenomenon last Christmas. The warehouse was open again. I did not get organic grapefruit this week. But, I did get a case of V-8, sirloin steak, lasagna, shrimp and other stuff I'm forgetting right now.

Taking The Tandy Hills Cure & Getting 10 Loaves Of Bread From Town Talk
Town Talk was the busiest I've ever seen it today. I was there around 12:30.
I'd gone on the longest hike ever on the Tandy Hills, hoping to shake up the respiratory malfunction that has had me feeling the blahs for several days.
The Tandy Hills Natural Sanatorium seems to have had its hoped for salubrious effect.
In other words, I feel better.
I took a picture of the Town Talk parking lot for Ms. MLK, up in Tacoma. She would have liked Town Talk today.
I'd not been to Town Talk when the warehouse is opened up, before. Apparently this happens rarely. When I walked in to Town Talk I saw lots of people pushing carts beyond the doors that are usually closed. After I finished my usual Town Talk treasure hunting route, I went beyond the doors that are usually closed.
A nice lady with a full cart explained the open warehouse to me. And pointed to whole wheat bread, cases of 10 loaves. For $2. Real good artisan bakery type whole wheat bread. I also got organic pink grapefruit, 5 for $1. Plus sweet potato chips and tortilla chips made with black, green and kalamata olives, 2 for $1. That's all I found to get in the warehouse area.
This was my first time at Town Talk that required a grocery cart, rather than a handheld basket. It was the case of bread that pushed the load over the top. I had a grocery cart full and it only cost $9.
Now that I am sitting in this enclosed space, typing away and staring at a computer monitor, my respiratory woe seems to have returned. Maybe I've become allergic to computers. Or the Internet. Or blogging. Or a combo.
A strong wind has blown away the clouds, blue sky has returned. Maybe the wind will blow in some fresher, less polluted air.

The Tandy Hills Helped Today's Existential Angst While Chase Bank Added To It
You are looking north on one of the long and winding trails on the Tandy Hills, around noon, today.
Even though it had been less than 24 hours since I had my mystical Tandy Hills encounter with an Aztec Indian, I felt compelled to return to the sacred ground, due to the extreme case of Existential Angst from which I am currently suffering.
Hill hiking seemed to help. A little.
I do not recollect a more perfectly temperatured day to be hiking on the Tandy Hills than today.
I think I already mentioned, in the blogging previous to this one, that I heard from Steve Doeung this morning. Steve wants to take me and Elsie Hotpepper to Vietnam. I mentioned this to Elsie. We both think this sounds fun. So, I guess it will be to Vietnam we shall go. But, not this weekend, not while I am having this Existential Angst thing hanging over my head.
Changing subjects. Today I got a letter from Chase Bank. I have long regretted the day Washington Mutual got taken over by Chase Bank. It's been like I was living in a democratic republic that was taken over by an autocratic monarchy, that one by one by one has been taking my WaMu freedoms away. And doing so with Orwellian verbiage that makes it sound like Chase is doing me a favor.
Today I learned that Chase is replacing my Free Checking with something called Chase Total Checking. Free Checking will now cost $12 a month.
I just checked to see how easy it is to switch my Google AdSense to a new bank account. It appears to be easy. Google is the only thing I can think of that might have presented a difficulty. Changing the bank account in other accounts, like PayPal, is easy.
So, I'm now looking for a new bank. It's the principle of the thing. When Chase took over they told WaMu customers our WaMu account's attributes would remain the same, only now with the protection of Chase Bank.
Anyone have any good bank suggestions? We can rule out US Bank.
Changing subjects again. I got a lot of good stuff. Again. At Town Talk today. Sushi was in the cooler again. And grape tomatoes. I got a lot of grape tomatoes. And dried pineapple. And a big bag of fire-roasted eggplant. Plus smoked Provolone.
I think it may be Town Talk that is making me FAT. Which is just one more factor in my ongoing Existential Angst.
