Prosecutor Alan Jackson! W2G! |
The jury of eight men and four women deliberated about two days before finding James Michael Fayed guilty and finding the special circumstances of murder for financial gain and lying in wait to be true.
The case is being prosecuted by Deputy District Attorneys Eric Harmon and Alan Jackson. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty. The penalty phase of the trial begins Friday at 10:30 a.m. before Judge Kathleen Kennedy.
Pamela Fayed was stabbed 13 times near her SUV parked in a garage at Watt Tower on July 28, 2008. She and her estranged husband, the owner of a gold-trading company, had just met with their criminal attorneys over a federal investigation into the couple's business.
Three other men charged in Pamela Fayed's killing are awaiting trial
separately. They are: Steven Vicente Simmons, 22, who allegedly fatally stabbed Pamela Fayed; Jose Luis Moya, 50, a Fayed employee who allegedly was paid $25,000 to arrange the murder; and Gabriel Jay Marquez, 46, who allegedly acted as lookout. Each face life in prison without the possibility of parole if convicted.
