Image via WikipediaLOS ANGELES – A 22-year-old student accused of fatally shooting his vocational school instructor was charged with murder today, the District Attorney’s Office announced. Law Thien Huynh (dob 12/28/88) is expected to be arraigned in Department 30 of the Foltz Criminal Justice Center. The complaint includes gun-use allegations.
Huynh is accused of shooting Roberto Herrera, 44 – a security guard training instructor at Coast Career Institute – on Feb. 23. He is charged in case No. BA381445. The defendant allegedly walked out of class momentarily, returned with a firearm and proceeded to shoot Herrera multiple times in the head.
Huynh’s bail is recommended at $2 million. If convicted as charged, the defendant faces 50 years to life in state prison.
