Los Angeles, CA
Six of the notorious Bell 8 got "Hall-ed" off on this afternoon by one determined Judge.
Yep. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Henry "Giving them Hell" Hall has order that past and current elected members of the Bell City Council to head for a criminal trial on countless corruption charges.
Mayor Oscar Hernandez and current and ex-council members Luis Artiga, Victor Bello, George Cole, Teresa Jacobo and George Mirabal are FINALLY going to face a Jury and stand trial for bilking the people of Bell out of millions of dollars over the past couple of years. Their "signal caller," ex-Bell City Manager Robert "Fatso" Rizzo and his right arm Assistant City Manager Angela "Spaced Out" Spaccia will begin their preliminary trial on additional corruption charges beginning next week. Look for Rizzo and Spaccia to also be held over for criminal trial.
Here's the kicker. Judge Hall also ordered that the six defendants stay the hell away from Bell city hall and to no longer participate in Bell's civic affairs, and that includes not being able to attend any more city council meetings.
They are also banned for speaking to each other until the criminal trail is concluded. Damn. Hard core.
If any of these Bell 6 violate any parts of these conditions, they will be in violation of the court order and will immediately placed back in jail during the trial.
My advice to the BELL SIX is to literally get the heck out of town and go into hiding. Maybe they can move into Vernon? Nah. Vernon won't allow it.
So, who is in charge of Bell?
With this court order, basically the City of Bell is NOW out of operation until the upcoming March 8th City Council election is held, certified, and the new winners sworn into office.
Theoretically, if the election is a close one, and odds are this campaign is going to come down to a hand full of votes one way or the other, it could be well into April before a legally functional city council can been impaneled by the Los Angeles County Registrar of Voters..
"These people may not be in the running of that city in any shape or form," Hall said. "The allegations are, in my opinion, appalling."
Well said, Judge Hall. Well said.
