Disturbing news out of the Los Angeles Unified School District tonight.

A well know high school teacher and former football coach is under arrest tonight on various charges of "Child Porn" distribution.

Coach Radcliff. Under arrest. In big trouble.

Image by lukemontague via FlickrEducator Brad "Bradley Radcliff, the current Dean of Discipline and Athletic Director at the prestigious West Adams Preparatory High School in Los Angeles is locked up in a Downtown LA jail cell and is facing numerous felony charges. Creepy. Just plain wrong.

Here is how the situation developed over the past week from a media statement issued this afternoon by the LAPD media division.

"On February 2, 2011, the LAPD Juvenile Division’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit personnel arrested Ratcliff for Distribution of Child Pornography. Ratcliff is currently the Dean of Discipline and Athletic Director at West Adams Preparatory High School in Los Angeles. Ratcliff was also the former head varsity football coach for the 2008 and 2009 seasons."

"A search warrant was served at Ratcliff’s residence, which is also where Ratcliff was arrested. Ratcliff was in possession of numerous child pornography images and videos containing male victims.

At this time, LAPD investigators do not have any evidence that the images/videos Ratcliff was in possession of are of current or former students."

My opine: This arrest took place eight days ago. Why is the community just learning about this alarming news just today??

I understand detective work, but come on, waiting EIGHT days after an arrest of a high school teacher and coach on serious criminal charges like these....?

We just had a local Pop Warner Football coach here in La Mirada get busted and charged on molestation counts.

Anyway, the investigation is ongoing and anyone with information about this suspect or the existence of additional victims are asked to contact LAPD ICAC detectives at 562-624-4027.
