What a kick in the ass.
Democratic big-shot Rahm Emanuel will not be allowed to appear on the upcoming February 22 Chicago mayoral ballot, according to a ruling issued by an Illinois state appellate court this morning.
Yep, ole' Rahm didn't live in Chicago legally.
I love this stunning political screw-up from one of the most hot headed politicians in America, ol' Tricky Rahm.
Image via WikipediaToday two of the three judges on that Illinois panel of three well respected judges, said Emanuel does not meet the residency requirement.
Image by afagen via FlickrThe judges reversed an earlier decision by the Chicago Board of Elections that determined Emanuel was eligible. Emanuel, use to represent a sliver of the city in Congress before serving as President Obama's first chief of staff. When Emanuel left Illinois and moved to Washington DC, he was no longer a "legal" resident of the city he was hoping to be the mayor of.
He left the White House last October to begin a campaign to replace mayor Richard Daley. Emanuel was the "lock solid" totally "shoe in" front runner in the hot Chicago Mayor campaign. He is leading in every poll and has a massive fundraising advantage.
Look for an appeal. Still, today I am totally cracking up about this twist of "faith" of one of the most "Powerful Man in Washington." Stay tuned. The Fat Lady still isn't singing just yet.
