I have been thinking a lot about that horrific crash last night in Covina.
Everyone is talking about this crash on blogs, and comment sections, and on radio talk shows.
I have to agree with many who say that law enforcement and fire rescue officials involved in the scene appeared to cared more about tending to the injuries of the suspect instead of rushing to help the woman he hit and eventually left in critical condition with several injuries. She is lucky to be alive.
We now know the name of the man who led law enforcement on that dangerous high speed chase as Edgar Angorita, 45, of Hollywood. He is under arrest and is facing a slew of felony charges. (Still waiting for his bail and arrest details to hit local law enforcement websites. Keep you posted, so check back).
Still...I have to question just how this entire situation was handled in the first place. Literally thousands of you have visited my blog in the past 24 hours to learn more about this crime. Like you, I watched this chase from start to finish on KCAL 9 News here in LA LA Land.
Like many of you, I too am appalled by the rescue teams "lack of aggressiveness" in tending to the victim.
Dozens of officers appeared to spend all of their time in the initial several minutes after the crash treating Angorita instead of doing ANYTHING to rescue the victim.
I "get" that law enforcement needed to subdue Angorita, who looked totally strung out on dope and booze, but, come on, give me a break. The victim was left unattended in her car for almost a half hour before the rescue attempt even began. As soon as the name of the victim is officially released by law enforcement (even though KCAL 9 News announced her identity tonight) I will hold off on who she is and more about her condition.
I will also keep you posted on bail and court dates for Angorita. Hit my comment section. Did law enforcement blow it in this case? Sound off.
