I wanted to thank the family of Berna Martinez for sending me an appeal tonight to help find the person responsible in the horrific "dragging" death that claimed the life of their love one just a couple of weeks ago.
If you recall this is what took place. This was on just about every news outlet in Southern California and it also appeared here on my blog.
"On the morning of Monday, March 21, 2011 at around 11:45 a.m. on a rain soaked street, Berna Martinez, age 74 was hit by a vehicle who was exiting the northbound 5 Freeway at Red Hill Avenue. Her body was dragged more than 1 mile away at Newport and Walnut avenues."
Tonight, I received a heart felt note from Gabriel Martinez, the 14 year old grandson of Berna asking me to place some additional information on my blog about this unsolved case.
"Randy, we need witnesses in the fatal traffic accident of our beloved Berna Aragon Martinez who was struck and killed on March 21, 2011 in the area of Redhill and El Camino Real at the 5 Freeway off ramp crosswalk at around 11:30 to 11:45 p.m.. If you have ANY INFORMATION or if your KNOW anyone who may have witnessed this terrible accident, please contact Officer Houle with the Tustin Police Department at (714) 573-3220.
The family is also planning a Pancake Breakfast and Bake Sale this Saturday, April 9th from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Tustin Family and Youth Center at 14722 Newport Avenue in Tustin. The pancake breakfast will cost $3 per person, and ANY donation is requested to help this wonderful family in this sad time in their lives. For more information, please call (714) 573-3370, and ask for Barbara, Lucia, Keesha or Nang.
