Deputy District Attorney Haralambos Zoumberakis of the Torrance Branch Office said David Concool is expected to be arraigned this afternoon in Department 4 of Torrance Superior Court. Concool is charged in case No. YA080719.
Concool is charged with one count of murder with an allegation that he personally used a deadly and dangerous weapon, a knife.
Weeks before the murder, the victim, James Floyd Dukes, had asked the defendant to move out. Subsequently, the defendant allegedly took the victim’s vehicle without his permission. The victim had made arrangements with the defendant to get his car back on the day of the attack, the prosecutor said.
On March 30, Concool allegedly stabbed the victim multiple times at the corner of 165th Street and Firmona Avenue in Lawndale.
The recommended bail for Concool is $1 million. If convicted as charged, Concool faces life in prison with the possibility of parole.
